Offseason open chat and discussion: November 4

Even though the season is over, there is a lot going on over the next few weeks to discuss.

The Atlanta Braves have concluded their season, but there is still quite a bit going on that could directly have an impact on them. We have awards rolling in, salary cap discussions, potential free agent signings and trades, etc.

Keep an eye out for the Rookie of the Year announcement on November 9th. Didier Fuentes likely will not win, but it will be interesting to see how many down votes he gets. It is arbitrary in nature, but it can be fun to discuss what the outcome will be.

Manager of the Year will be announced on November 10th. The term finalist is a bit deceiving because the voting has already decided, but all three NL "finalists" have a legitimate reason to have received the top three total votes. Mattingly took a team look destined to fail and turned the season around. Weiss took a team that missed the playoffs last season and brought them to a NLE division win, and Murphy once again led a dominant Brewers team that led MLB in wins (postseason was not factored into voting).

We also have Chris Sale in the mix for Cy Young. He likely did not win, but like Fuentes it will be fun to see how voters placed him.

There has been a new update on salary cap and salary floor as well. It is always fun to hear people's thoughts on this subject.

The MLB General Manager Meetings start next week on November 9th in Las Vegas. We don't typically see a ton happen at these meetings, but they do typically set the groundwork for trades and evaluation of free agent markets. There is a small chance we see some minor additions at this time.

Let's talk about these subjects or whatever else is on your mind in the comments.
