Texas football's Steve Sarkisian drops mic on not coaching like a 'loser' against Ohio State

The Texas football team battled back from a 20-point second half deficit to defeat Ohio State on Saturday night. It was clearly one of the biggest wins in Texas program history . Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is opening up about what was going on in his head during the game.

After being asked if he was willing to change course with his play calling, the head coach gave an honest answer .

"No. That's how losers think. Winners win, baby. They didn't hire me to keep it close. They hired me to win," Sarkisian said, per On3.

The head coach is a believer in this Texas team. Texas is now 2-0 on the season and got some sweet revenge over Ohio State. The Buckeyes had defeated Texas during the 2025 campaign.

"Steve Sarkisian keeps saying how beneficial this win over No. 1 Ohio State was for the sake of being able to overcome adversity in December and January. He firmly believes this Texas team can win the national championship," the outlet reported.

Arch Manning helped Texas storm back against Ohio State

Sarkisian is pointing to Texas quarterback Arch Manning , as a big reason for the team's success Saturday. Manning was extending plays in the second half to keep drives going.

"Steve Sarkisian said this eventually became a "screw it" game for Texas QB Arch Manning. The game changed when he started scrambling, extending plays and keeping drives alive for the Longhorns. Texas' final three TD possessions were 15, 13 and 12 plays," On3 reported.

The Longhorns clearly made a big statement on Saturday. Texas is hoping to return to the College Football Playoff, after missing out in 2025.

Manning finished his day with 195 passing yards, a touchdown pass and an interception. He earned praise from his head coach after the game.

"Arch played like a man tonight," Sarkisian said, per On3.
