Durfee and New Bedford football rivalry hits Fenway Park

FALL RIVER — A once in a lifetime opportunity is now offically for the Durfee football team.

The Hilltoppers and the New Bedford Whalers will renew this year's oldest high school football rivalry on the South Coast at Fenway Park — home of the Boston Red Sox.

The 135th meeting between the two schools is part of a scheduled high school doubleheader presented by Cross Insurance on Wednesday, Nov. 25, beginning at 4 p.m. "We are extremely excited and grateful to be able to play this historic football game at this historic venue," Durfee athletic director Brad Bustin said. "It will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our players, coaches, and community."

The Hilltoppers won the last two meetings against NB, including a dominating 36-0 victory at Mac Aldrich Field on the campus of B.M.C. Durfee High School in 2025. Durfee has won three of the last five holiday meetings. The Whalers, who were winless last year, still own an overall record of 85-41-8 in the series.

Game matchups at Fenway Park are as follows:

∎ Cambridge Rindge & Latin School vs. Somerville High School – 5 p.m.

∎ Canton High School vs. Stoughton High School – 8 p.m.*

∎ Durfee High School vs. New Bedford High School – 4 p.m.

∎ Xaverian Brothers High School vs. St. John's Prep – 7 p.m.*

*Times are approximate; games are scheduled to begin 40 minutes after the conclusion of the previous contest.

General admission tickets are available for purchase at redsox.com/highschoolfootball starting at $20/ticket for each day, providing access to both games.

Twenty percent of every ticket sold will be given back to the school being supported. Dell Technologies Level Suites will be available for all matchups, starting at $50/ticket. These can be purchased by contacting Michael Gavagan at mgavagan@redsox.com .
