U.S. Crushes Czechia, 105-64

Monday’s game against Czechia was a good tonic for Sunday’s near disaster against Italy

· 205 words

After the narrow win over Italy on Sunday, coach Kara Lawson told her team that it couldn't rely on talent, that passion would have to be their calling card if they wanted to win the FIBA World Cup.

Message apparently received as Team USA crushed Czechia 105-64 on Monday.

Six players hit double figures, led by a terrific game by Breanna Stewart, who finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Caitlin Clark had nine points and seven assists off the bench, while Paige Bueckers had 10 points and five assists.

A lot of fans are posting online that Lawson needs to make changes to the lineup, which comes with the territory. And with France coming up next, after hitting a record 22 threes against Nigeria, they could be right.

However, as great a player as Clark is, there are likely other reasons why Gray is playing. Two we can think of quickly are defense and quickness.

We'll see how things go in the next game against France, but we'd be willing to bet on this: France will not score 66 points from behind the line on the U.S.
