Red Bull officially locks in Verstappen’s team-mate for the 2027 season

In a humorous video posted on its social media channels to announce Isack Hadjar 's return to the car after three races on the sidelines, Red Bull also took the opportunity to hint at his continued presence alongside Max Verstappen in 2027. Shortly afterwards, the team officially confirmed the line-up, locking it in for next year.

The positive news coincides with the Frenchman's return to the car after missing the last three races due to a wrist injury and being temporarily replaced by Liam Lawson. He will return to his regular duties this weekend in Baku.

Speaking about his continued stay with the team next year, the Frenchman said he is excited to remain with Red Bull , having quickly recognised the scale and ambition of the organisation after joining eight months ago.

He also highlighted the talent within the team and the privilege of racing alongside Verstappen, while stressing his commitment to learning, improving and repaying the faith placed in him by Laurent Mekies and the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

"I am really excited to continue with Oracle Red Bull Racing . I came to this Team eight months ago and immediately understood the scale and ambition of this organisation. There are so many talented people at the factory, and you're aware of the privilege of driving for such an incredible Team alongside a four-time World Champion like Max.

"From the moment I signed, I set out to dedicate myself to the Team, and with the support of Laurent and everyone in Milton Keynes, I've been able to justify the faith they've had in me. I'm constantly looking to listen, learn and push myself further every single day, which only makes me more excited about what lies ahead."

Mekies explains why Red Bull had no doubts about keeping Hadjar for 2027

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies praised the Frenchman's performances since joining the team at the start of the year, highlighting his strong showing both on and off the track despite this being only his second Formula 1 season. He also pointed to the driver's commitment at the factory, where he worked closely with his engineers to help develop the car while continuing to learn and improve.

"We're very excited to continue our journey with Isack. Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second Formula 1 season, which made extending his contract an easy decision.

"From the very beginning, Isack immersed himself in the Team, spending every minute at the factory with his engineers to develop the car, always eager to learn and improve. You could see from that first weekend in Melbourne that he handled the step up with remarkable composure and had earned his place in this seat.

Mekies acknowledged that the period following his injury had been difficult, but stressed that the contract extension reflects the team's strong belief in him. He also expressed his excitement at seeing the Frenchman return to the track, while emphasising the team's shared commitment to achieving its goals for the remainder of the season.

"The period since his injury has been a difficult one for Isack, but this extension is a testament to how much we believe in him and we can't wait to see him back out on track. We still have a lot we want to achieve this season, but it's a great feeling to know that the drivers, engineers and everyone back at the factory are all heading in the same direction, committed and together."
