Luka Dončić has been cooking to start the 2026-27 season. The Toronto Raptors were just the latest team to get barbecued.
The Los Angeles Lakers' superstar put up a 45-point, 15-rebound double-double in his team's 131-125 win over the Raptors on Sunday night.
Here's a look at the game's top performers:
Dončić was plus-27 on the night, an absurd number. He has truly entered, "You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him" territory early this season.
Perhaps his only blemish on the night was his seven turnovers. The Lakers in general were a bit loose with the ball, coughing it up 22 times. But it was an otherwise perfect performance from Dončić.
And it was a nice return to form for the Lakers' offense in general. L.A. scored at least 125 points in each of the first four games of the season before averaging 99 points in the two games coming into Sunday night. The Lakers were particularly effective from deep, shooting 18-of-37 (49 percent) from three in the win.
JJ Redick likely won't be thrilled that the Lakers took their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter, getting outscored by the Raptors 43-27 and turning a potential blowout into something a bit too close for comfort. But the Lakers held them off, moving to 5-2 on the season.
They'll next host the Miami Heat on Monday night. The 3-3 Raptors are also in action on Monday night and are staying in Los Angeles to face the Clippers.
