Tripura ADC Village Committee polls record 75% turnout

Agartala: Tripura’s ADC Village Committee elections passed off largely peacefully on Monday, with the State Election Commission (SEC) reporting around 75% turnout, which could rise as voters remained in queues after polling closed.SEC secretary Anurag Sen said there were no major incidents, while CPM alleged fraudulent voting, obstruction of candidates and polling agents and difficulties accessing booths in parts of West Tripura and Sepahijala.Radhacharan Debbarma, senior CPM neta and former ADC CEM, claimed opposition polling agents were barred from several booths.BJP dismissed the allegations as baseless. The SEC said prompt actions was taken whenever disturbances were reported.Polling was held across 587 committees for 4,597 positions in 2,634 constituencies.
