Property registrations in Mumbai rose 11 percent year-on-year in August, with the city recording 12,401 registrations by 5.20 pm on Monday, as strong demand continued across both primary and secondary housing markets.According to the report of Knight Frank India, which analysed data from the Maharashtra department of registrations and stamps, the number of registrations could rise to around 12,500 by the end of the day. Mumbai had recorded 11,230 property registrations in August 2025.This year registrations are projected to be the highest for the month in more than 14 years, Knight Frank India CMD Shishir Baijal said, pointing to sustained homebuyer interest across Mumbai's residential market.Baijal said buyers are becoming more discerning, with well-located projects backed by quality infrastructure likely to remain attractive. Mumbai's economic depth, employment base and long-term investment appeal are expected to continue supporting housing demand.Industry experts said the sustained registration activity reflects the resilience of Mumbai's housing market despite high property values. Jason Samuel, managing director of Mumbai-based realty firm House of Swamiraj, said the numbers indicate that market momentum is being sustained over a longer period, as citied by news agency PTI.He attributed the continued activity to sustained end-user demand, improving buyer confidence and a continued preference for home ownership, particularly among buyers seeking well-located and quality homes.Samuel, however, said developers need to focus on execution alongside new project launches. Several viable projects have remained stalled for years, leaving homebuyers and families waiting for resolutions, he said. The registration data points to continued depth in Mumbai's housing market, with buyer demand remaining firm even as homebuyers become more selective about location, quality and project delivery.Ready to Make a Smarter Property Decision?
