Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece and former fiancee of Donald Trump Jr., is under new scrutiny for allegedly requesting a direct deposit of $100,000 from a MAGA donor to clear her credit card debt ahead of her Senate confirmation hearing.

In text messages obtained by NewsNation, The Hill’s broadcast partner, Guilfoyle appeared to plead with Eric Deters, a former lawyer and Kentucky congressional candidate , to send money directly to her American Express account so it couldn’t be tracked.

“Honey please I need you to get this done for me today,” Guilfoyle wrote in one message to the GOP donor dated July 3, 2025, six days before her confirmation hearing.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the texts, sent via Signal, late Wednesday. Secretary of State Marco Rubio declined to comment on the scandal when pressed by reporters on Thursday.

NewsNation reached out to Guilfoyle’s lawyers on Thursday for comment.

One of her lawyers told the Journal she “disputed the authenticity of the messages but declined to provide specifics.” Jesse Binnall told the Journal that Guilfoyle was owed a balance related to speaking events, which Deters disputed.

Read some of the key text messages between Guilfoyle and Deters:

In Signal messages that Deters told NewsNation were exchanged in the weeks before Guilfoyle’s confirmation hearing, she urged him not to tell people about their “arrangement” and warned he could “literally cost me my ambassadorship.”

Deters pressed Guilfoyle throughout their exchanges to help him score interviews on former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s show and Trump’s podcast as part of his efforts to push for the extradition of an Ohio doctor who had fled to Pakistan after being charged with defrauding insurers by performing unnecessary spinal surgeries.

He also asked her to connect him with then-Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel in relation to the case. And he pushed for access to Billy Long, who was serving as the commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service at the time, to discuss a tax-related matter, and with Kid Rock to share a song he wrote called “Kentucky Outlaw.”

Guilfoyle repeatedly stressed that she wanted to keep the conversations between herself and Deters private — and communicate through phone calls.

A call log shared with NewsNation showed eight phone conversations between the pair between June and early July 2025. The pair also exchanged voice note recordings at times.

Deters pledged his support for Guilfoyle in several messages, writing in a Signal exchange on June 11, 2025, that she could “count” on him in her future role as ambassador. Guilfoyle welcomed his assistance and said she would host him in Greece as her “special guest.”

But Guilfoyle grew increasingly frustrated with Deters for putting things in writing.

In a letter in late June, attached as a PDF in the chat, Deters wrote he “generously offered” her $1 million if she “got me on Tucker” and had already paid her $300,000 over the years. He also complained Guilfoyle had not connected him with Bondi or Long.

“As of this memo, I have not received one favor,” he wrote. “I am not naive or a sucker. I need results. No results. No need for me to pay.”

Guilfoyle replied, urging him to “stop papering all these things.”

On July 2, Guilfoyle sent another plea for Deters to “get this done for me today.”

In response to that message, Deters wrote that he’s “trying [to] figure something out.” The next day, Guilfoyle appeared to send specific instructions for where to send money.

Deters responded with another letter on July 7, telling Guilfoyle, “I can’t do this without getting a divorce.”

“Just do the best you can. I wish you luck on your confirmation and appreciate your help,” he adds, signing the letter “Jason Statham,” a reference to his action movie-like driving during one of her visits to Kentucky.

In response, Guilfoyle called the letter “upsetting” and again told Deters he should have called.
