275 Indian nationals remain missing in Nepal; 166 rescued so far: MEA confirms

NEW DELHI: During a bi-weekly briefing on Friday, ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared that 275 Indian nationals remain missing in the aftermath of the recent disaster in Nepal."As per our current information, 275 Indian nationals remain missing. We continue to be in close touch with the Nepali government and with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here and the relevant or concerned state governments in India as well.” Jaiswal said.India and Nepal have been consistently coordinating efforts in relief and rescue operations. The MEA has also been releasing names of individuals who have been rescued.We deeply appreciate the efforts of the Nepalese authorities in this regard. So far, 166 Indian nationals have been rescued in Nepal... so far, 1,907 Indian nationals have safely crossed into Nepal from China. And as per official sources in China, there are no Indian travelers who are stranded in the Tibetan Autonomous Region in China..." Jaiswal added.India will continue providing assistance based on Nepal's requirements, Jaiswal said. The government is preparing to send additional forensic kits, Bailey bridges and other requested materials in the coming days.Responding to remarks by Nepal's foreign minister on climate change, Jaiswal said India has consistently maintained that climate change is a shared challenge. He said developed countries, which bear greater historical responsibility for emissions, should take the lead in cutting emissions and provide developing countries with financing and technology.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
