North Carolina is set to begin mailing general election absentee ballots on Friday, even as the Trump administration has moved to restrict voting by mail.

The administration is appealing a federal judge’s ruling that stops it from moving forward with voting restrictions established by executive order for at least for one more week. The Justice Department asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to lift the block.

And North Carolina’s State Board of Elections will meet at 9 a.m. EDT to offer guidance on mailing ballots.
