Hunter Biden says Harris was not ‘loyal to a fault’ to his father

Hunter Biden on Monday said former Vice President Kamala Harris was not “loyal to a fault” to his father, former President Biden.

The president’s son sat for an interview in Los Angeles with Zeteo Editor-in-Chief Mehdi Hasan for a wide-ranging conversation about President Biden’s time in office, his handling of the Israel-Hamas war and Harris as vice president.

Hasan pressed that Hunter Biden’s criticisms of Harris could be seen “as throwing her under the bus,” prompting Hunter Biden to reply, “Oh, boy,” before laughing.

“Let me just state it exactly clearly. I think that she was loyal to my father, and I don’t think that she was loyal to a fault, however,” he later said.

Hasan pressed Hunter Biden on this, who said “people” would tell him that Harris “was so loyal to your dad.”

“Well,” Hunter Biden said he would reply, “maybe from your perspective, but maybe not from mine.”

“How is she not loyal to your dad?” Hasan replied, to which Hunter Biden said, “That’s between me and her.”

The president’s son defended not expanding further on the divide between him and Harris, saying he “ain’t running for anything” and he can “say whatever the f‑‑‑ I want.”

He said he sees Harris having a “deep, rich future in politics, whether she wants to run for president again, she’ll be –– not the frontrunner. But she’s not a very good politician.”

Hunter Biden, who has made a slew of media appearances and has been on a posting spree on social media, last month called Harris “not a very good politician.”

“I don’t see how she possibly thinks that distancing herself from Joe Biden is even possible,” he told the “Amped Up” podcast. “And why would you, if you really believed in the record that you had left?”

Harris replaced Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket in 2024 after Democratic lawmakers and donors, including actor George Clooney and former President Obama, called on the president to step aside following a disastrous debate performance with President Trump.

She is among the possible contenders for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.

Harris at times critiqued the Trump administration, having revamped her social media campaign to advocate for Democratic causes and mock Trump and the White House.

Some Democrats are split on her involvement in the 2026 midterms, with some saying she is a liability while others, including Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) in his reelection effort, have expressed gratitude for her support.

Harris herself has also been critical of some facets of the Biden administration, including Joe Biden himself. She wrote in her campaign memoir, “107 Days,” that his decision to run for reelection amounted to “ recklessness ” and accused his staffers of “ adding fuel ” to negative stories about her.
