4 House Democrats heading to Dallas for RNC counterprogramming

Four House Democrats are headed to Dallas next week as the Republican National Committee holds a first-of-its-kind midterm convention, House leadership announced Friday.

Democratic Reps. Robert Garcia (Calif.), Jason Crow (Colo.), Madeleine Dean (Pa.) and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (Calif.) make up the delegation, which will partner with local leaders and the Texas Democratic Party on the ground.

“While swing seat House Republicans try to hide from their record of raising costs on working families, gutting Medicaid to fund tax breaks for billionaire donors and supporting a reckless war of choice in Iran, House Democrats will be present to hold them accountable,” House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said in a release.

Jeffries accused MAGA extremists of “partying with their super rich donors in Dallas” as Americans feel the sting of high prices.

“Americans are being crushed by rising costs. Republicans don’t care—they’re in Dallas, celebrating an out of touch President whose tariffs and wars are making things worse. We’re going to hold them accountable,” Crow said on the social platform X.

The Democrats’ Texas visit acts as counterprogramming to the RNC’s convention, which is aimed at highlighting Republican candidates and energizing the party’s voters ahead of the high-stakes midterm election. Vice President Vance is giving a speech on the first night, and President Trump is set to deliver the closing-night keynote address.

The Dallas-based event comes as Republicans fight to hold on to the Texas Senate seat up for grabs in November and as both parties battle over a handful of highly competitive House seats after GOP-friendly redistricting reshaped the state’s congressional maps last year.
