Loomer says she’s ‘pissed’ at Trump for meeting Mamdani

Far-right commentator Laura Loomer lashed out Monday after President Trump praised New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) during a cordial press conference at Gracie Mansion ahead of Tuesday’s United Nations General Assembly in the city.

“I’m pissed off,” Loomer wrote on the social platform X shortly after Trump met with Mamdani, who is New York City’s first Muslim mayor.

“We work so hard to combat the radical left and the anti-American Islamic jihadists who work to destroy our country everyday,” she said. “And for what? So they can be rewarded?”

Loomer, a staunch Trump ally who has informally advised the president, did not name Mamdani specifically in the post but has separately labeled the New York City mayor as an “Islamic jihadist” in the past.

Trump met with Mamdani at the mayor’s official residence Monday ahead of the U.N.’s annual gathering, continuing an unexpectedly friendly relationship between the two political rivals.

Trump described Gracie Mansion as one of his “favorite places in the World.”

The president and the mayor met privately for roughly an hour before appearing together before reporters, where Trump said he wanted Mamdani to succeed despite their political differences.

“I certainly hope he will be a great mayor,” Trump told reporters at the press conference. “I want what’s good for New York. I want what’s good for the country.”

“I want him to be a great mayor, and he’s certainly got potential, got great potential,” he added.

The two discussed immigration, affordability and a potential housing development at Sunnyside Yard in Queens, which would likely require federal approvals and funding.

Mamdani said he would continue working with the Trump administration so the two sides could deliver results for New Yorkers.

Trump and Mamdani have frequently clashed over the mayor’s progressive policies. Trump repeatedly attacked Mamdani during last year’s mayoral race, but the pair struck a surprisingly warm tone when Mamdani, then mayor-elect, visited the White House in November.
