Trump tells UN that AI needs a rebrand

President Trump capped off his address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) with a nod to growing fears about runaway artificial intelligence.

Trump said the U.S. “totally rejects any attempt to construct a globalist scheme to control.” He instead called for a rebrand, announcing that all U.S. government documents would instead use the term “super intelligence.”

“The use of the word artificial makes it sound fake,” he said. “It’s not fake, it’s actually amazing. But we have to be careful,” he said. “Welcome to the new world of super intelligence — SI.”

“Let’s see if that goes. It sounds much better. It is much better, and it’s much more accurate. Let’s see if I have any power. Maybe I do, and maybe I don’t. We’re going to find out pretty soon,” he added.

Here’s what you may have missed from his speech:

“Big decision” coming on Iran: Trump told the UNGA that he has a major decision coming on the U.S. war in Iran and said a deal could come after November’s midterms.

“Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before?” he asked. “Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic, and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to kill and destroy people and countries again. Do I drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness or generations?”

Russia-Ukraine: The U.S. is “working very closely” with Russian and Ukrainian leaders, Trump said. “We will get that one done. It’s going to happen, I think, more quickly than people understand.”

He said he would deploy sanctions under a new law named for late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) “if necessary.” The law created new sanctions and tariff powers for the president to punish countries trading with or supporting Russia economically.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at an airport in Ireland on Monday while the two waited for their planes to be refueled on the way to the U.S.

Last month, Ratcliffe visited Russia for an announced meeting with intelligence officials. And special envoy Steve Witkoff and the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner traveled to Kyiv to discuss the war.

Cuba walks out: Trump said that “freedom will be coming to Cuba” and accused the Cuban communist regime of stirring opposition in the U.S.

The Cuban delegation walked out as the president highlighted his pressure campaign on the island and predicted its fall.

Trump signed a deal l ater Tuesday morning with Greenland and Denmark that will give the U.S. a stronger military presence and bigger say in the Arctic island’s affairs.

At his UNGA address, the president said the agreement will protect Greenland, Denmark, U.S., Europe and NATO, and that the U.S. will “immediately begin the process of developing a large military presence.”

“No U.S. adversary will ever be permitted to establish a military presence in Greenland anymore or make sensitive investments there without our express written approval,” he added.

The signing: Trump thanked the prime ministers of Denmark and Greenland before signing the deal. “This was long in the making. You could go back many many decades, probably centuries,” he said.

“It’s going to be a long-term fantastic agreement,” Trump added.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that the deal will “show our adversaries who we are, and we are doing it together.”

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said the signing brings a 1951 agreement into 2026. “This agreement reflects that we understand our responsibility and act accordingly,” he said.

He added that it should lay to rest speculation of where the Arctic island’s security lies. “We are, have been and will remain a steadfast friend of the United States and a part of the Western Alliance,” Nielsen added.

Details of the deal?: The U.S. plans to reopen a Cold War-era military base and station forces at an outpost currently run by the Danish dogsled patrol .

Sen. John Curtis (R-Utah) sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday to investigate both President Trump and former President Joe Biden’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden .

The Utah senator cited Trump Jr.’s recent three-day post-wedding trip to the Bahamas, which was paid for by Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev , according to a ProPublica report.

Curtis asked the committee to review the two president’s business dealings and to subpoena Hunter Biden and Donald Trump Jr. to testify before Congress, according to The Hill’s Alexander Bolton.

What’s the deal? : Curtis believes that Biden and Trump Jr.’s actions while their fathers were in office “raise legitimate questions about foreign access to members of a sitting president’s family.”

Curtis said Trump Jr.’s ties to Kremlev show his “active promotion of family-backed cryptocurrency ventures, his continued pursuit of international real estate deals involving direct meetings with foreign heads of state, and his reported investments in defense contracting.”

The GOP senator also targeted Trump’s Jr.’s ties to prediction market platforms.

As for Biden, Curtis flagged his business with China and Ukraine while his father was in office.

Something smells: Curtis released a video late last week blasting the Trump Jr. wedding scandal. “A Russian oligarch paid for a lavish wedding after-party for Donald Trump Jr., which to me just stinks. It’s corruption, I don’t like it,” he said.

Trump on Friday said his son would pay back the money.

A day after GOP Rep. Mike Lawler (N.Y.) received an endorsement from Democratic Rep. Jared Golden (Maine), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) blasted Golden and his fellow New York lawmaker.

“Mike Lawler is a partisan hack and Trump sycophant who Cait Conley [Lawler’s Democratic challenger] will defeat in November,” Jefferies said in response to the endorsement. “In desperation, he is peddling an 11th hour endorsement from a retiring Congressmember who represents an out of town district more than 400 miles away. This smoke and mirrors ploy will do nothing to change the outcome of the race.”

No stranger to crossing the aisle: Golden has split from the Democratic Party on multiple occasions, most recently supporting the Russia sanctions bill and a series of GOP messaging bills with Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wash.).

“Time and again when we needed bipartisan compromise, Jared was always there ready to deliver,” Lawler wrote on the social platform X. “I’m honored to have earned his support.”

Days after President Trump barred CNN, Politico and MS NOW reporters from the White House, the administration launched Trump TV Monday night.

Trump TV is a 24/7 stream on YouTube running, “Top videos, major remarks, and must-see highlights streaming 24/7 and updated in real time,” according to the stream’s YouTube description.

The release of Trump TV also comes on the same day Fox News Media, ABC News, NBC News, CNN and CBS News all pulled out from White House TV pool coverage.

Newsom not tuning in : California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) wrote on the social platform X that Trump TV is “quite literally state-run TV,” and that the president is, “drowning out the fact that he and his corrupt administration are failing the American people.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) shared in an update late Monday night that all flights have resumed at several major East Coast airports following a disruption in Philadelphia.

Delays were in place at airports in New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Newark after a 600-foot fiber cable was cut between New Brunswick and Newark, N.J.

Bigger, More Beautiful FAA: Following the incident, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said, “This incident underscores the need for additional funding to modernize aging infrastructure and prevent disruptions in the future.”

The One Big Beautiful Bill — which was signed into law by President Trump last year — gave the FAA $12.5 billion to help upgrade the national air traffic control system, but officials from the FAA have asked for an additional $10 billion for more updates.

“We still have problems, you’re right, but they’re not new to us,” Duffy told reporters Monday, according to a video shared by CBS News. “We know what has to be fixed and it’s going to take partnership with the Congress to make it happen.”
