Maria Bartiromo departs Fox News

Fox News has parted ways with longtime anchor Maria Bartiromo, the network announced Thursday.

The network gave few details on what led to the host’s departure in a short statement that read “we thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”

Bartiromo has been with Fox Business since 2014, and she emerged as one of President Trump’s most vocal supporters on the network during his time in the White House.

The host’s departure was abrupt, and the network said the final episode of “Mornings with Maria” aired Thursday morning. The show moving forward will be called “Mornings with Fox Business” beginning Friday and feature rotating anchors.

“Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” which also airs weekly on Fox Business will shift to “FBN’s Wall Street” effective this week hosted by Cheryl Casone and helmed by rotating anchors thereafter, the network said.

Bartiromo also hosted a weekend program — Sunday Morning Futures — which Fox pundit and former Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) will anchor until a permanent host is announced at a later date.

A longtime financial news anchor and analyst, Bartiromo got her start in cable news as a producer for CNN. She later joined CNBC where she worked for two decades before joining Fox.

She has spoken glowingly on her various Fox shows about the president and his polices, regularly defending his economic and trade agenda.
