Fox News parts ways with Maria Bartiromo

Fox News Media, the parent of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, said Thursday that it had parted ways with longtime anchor Maria Bartiromo. “We thank Maria for her work over the lasts 12½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” a spokesperson said in a statement that did not elaborate further. Bartiromo has been Fox Business Network’s global markets editor since joining it in 2014. She hosted “Mornings with Maria” and “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” on Fox Business, while also anchoring “Sunday Morning Futures,” a business-focused show on Fox News Channel. Bartiromo joined Fox from CNBC, where she hosted one of the network’s highest-profile programs, “Closing Bell” and was the first person to report live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Bartiromo’s departure was “effective today,” the Fox spokesperson also said. Long seen as a trailblazer for women in financial media, Bartiromo’s reporting took a decidedly conservative, political turn after she left CNBC. Many of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet secretaries appeared regularly on her shows during both of his terms in office. Fox also regularly touted Bartiromo’s shows as ratings winners. In 2021, Bartiromo’s comments and shows were cited as exhibits in a defamation lawsuit filed by the voting machine maker Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News. Dominion alleged that the cable network operator had knowingly broadcast false claimed that Dominion had rigged the 2020 presidential election. Fox News and Dominion eventually settled the lawsuit in 2023 for $787 million. During her time at CNBC, Bartiromo had appeared regularly on national broadcast programs, including NBC’s “TODAY” and “Nightly News” during the 2007-2008 financial crisis. CNBC was spun off from NBC News’ parent company, Comcast, in 2025. Bartiromo did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment on her departure.
