For Ashmit Patel, Diwali is about family, familiar traditions and keeping the celebrations simple. The Bigg Boss 4 contestant, who made his Bollywood debut with Murder (2005), plans to begin the day with a puja at his office before spending time with his family.“Just finished a very exciting meeting. It's an auspicious day, so fingers crossed things work out and I'll be able to share some good news soon. I'm now headed to my office to do a puja with my dad and office staff, after which I'll be spending time at home with my family,” he says.Ashmit prefers intimate celebrations over the card parties that have become associated with the festival. “Diwali for me is all about spending quality time with family and friends. I'm not big on Diwali parties because I don't play cards, and frankly, I don't understand how it's become a part of Diwali celebrations,” he says.Recalling his childhood celebrations, he shares, “One core memory I have is how my sister and mom used to make a beautiful rangoli outside our home's main door. I was always mesmerised by how artistic they both were because I don't think I am that at all. Also, my dadi would make some amazing homemade kaju katli, which was so tasty.”When it comes to festive shopping, Ashmit says he isn't planning any major purchases. “I'm not a big shopper, so don't really intend to buy anything as such. Traditionally, it's supposed to be auspicious to buy gold this time of the year, but with the uncertainty in the global markets, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to invest in gold due to the fluctuations in prices,” he adds.Get the latest TV News, TV Shows and more.
