The 2026/27 CONCACAF Nations League kicks off with a clash between Jamaica and Guatemala on Friday. The pair face off in Kingston in League A, where they've been allocated in Group B alongside Honduras, El Salvador, Suriname and Martinique.

Guatemala has never qualified for the final phase of the Nations League but will look to correct that record this year. Luis Fernando Tena's side beat the Reggae Boyz in Carson when these teams met at last year's CONCACAF Gold Cup, where striker Oscar Santis provided the only goal of the game.

Jamaica had kept three consecutive clean sheets against Guatemala prior to that and won two of those fixtures over a two-year span. The chances of Rudolph Speid's side restoring some dominance in the rivalry look promising, too, given Guatemala has lost four games in a row entering this matchup.

Olympiakos winger Leon Bailey will be absent for Jamaica, as will Birmingham City forward Demarai Gray and Southampton forward Cameron Archer . Former D.C. United defender Aaron Herrera is a notable absentee for Guatemala after he was waived by the MLS side this summer, while Columbus Crew goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen has been called up late to the squad as he seeks his 56th cap.
