‘Leaned Into the Arch Manning Circus’ – Colin Cowherd Highlights Downside of Legendary Surname for Texas QB

Arch Manning has been one of the most talked-about quarterbacks, as he comes from the legendary Manning family and experienced fame at a very early stage of his football career. Cowherd also talked about college football analyst Joel Klatt's assessment that the Longhorns quarterback has yet to reach his full potential and said:

"The downside to having Manning as a last name is that there's dozens of four- and five-star quarterbacks every year coming into college football, the rest of them, unless maybe they go to Notre Dame, the rest of them can kind of hide, you don't, you don't follow their journey week to week, we were talking about Arch when he wasn't playing, so that's the downside of the Mannings. Um, the only real criticism, and it's not really a criticism, it's a choice he made early, that I wouldn't have done, Arch Manning took endorsement deals when he was backing up at Texas, so basically, he leaned in to the Arch Manning circus, and I've said this for years, Baker Mayfield leaned in to his persona, that makes him fair game."

Cowherd also believes that Manning's decision to accept national endorsement deals before becoming Texas' starting quarterback opened him up to more criticism.

"And so, the one thing Arch has done outside of football that I didn't love is, hey, I'm going to do national endorsements. Bro, you're a backup. I mean, Brady wouldn't do a big commercial for years, like Baker was all in. I didn't love that decision. He's not short on cash, but, you know, none of my business really."

Manning now has the opportunity to change the conversation through his performances on the field. A strong showing against Tennessee could help him prove that he can handle the pressure and deliver against a strong SEC opponent.

With fame comes even more pressure to succeed in the football world.
