Ohio State standout wide receiver Jeremiah Smith continued to make history on Saturday.
While the No. 2 Buckeyes surprisingly suffered a 30-18 loss to USC, Smith set the all-time Big Ten receiving touchdowns record with a score in the fourth quarter of the contest.
It represented the 40th receiving touchdown of his college career, surpassing the previous Big Ten record of 39 that was set by Braylon Edwards in 2004 (h/t 247Sports' Patrick Murphy ).
Edwards initially set the record in his 44th game at Michigan, while Smith broke the record in his 37th game with Ohio State.
Smith has already made history several times this season, becoming the Buckeyes' all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
He's established himself as one of the top candidates to win the Heisman Trophy during his 2026 campaign, racking up 62 catches for 1,067 yards and 13 touchdowns in eight games.
Smith will be playing on Sundays soon, as he was listed as the No. 1 overall player in the 2027 draft class on the latest big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
For now, he'll focus on helping the Buckeyes bounce back from Saturday's defeat and continue their quest for a Big Ten title.
Next up for Ohio State is a matchup with Oregon on Nov. 7.
