Latest Heisman Trophy 2026 Odds as Arch Manning, Jeremiah Smith Rise

A few of the Heisman Trophy's greatest contenders took centerstage on Saturday, and they acquitted themselves well in the race's very early stages.

Here's a look at the latest odds for the top 10 contenders following the 3:30 p.m. ET set of games via FanDuel Sportsbook .

Five of those 10 players took the field Saturday. Here's how they did.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning began his second season as the Longhorns' starter by completing 20-of-27 passes for 305 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in a 59-7 home win over Texas State. Two of the TD passes went to Cam Coleman (six and 20 yards).

Manning's day was done with 7:55 left in the third quarter after he found Hollywood Smothers for a 13-yard touchdown pass to put Texas up 41-7.

He and the No. 5 Longhorns have a tougher test next week when the Longhorns host the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes in a rematch of last year's season opener, when OSU won 14-7. However, a strong showing from Manning could absolutely vault him into the early Heisman lead.

Speaking of the Buckeyes, Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith caught eight passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns in the first half alone to lead the No. 1 Buckeyes to a 56-3 home win over Ball State to begin the season.

Smith was sensational, making a 48-yard touchdown catch in air-tight coverage to open the scoring.

He also got a nifty toe-tap touchdown in the final seconds of the second quarter to put OSU up 27-3.

Since 2000, 21 quarterbacks have won the Heisman compared to just three running backs, one wide receiver and one two-way player. However, Smith is making a great case that he deserves the Heisman.

OSU quarterback Julian Sayin, of course, connected with Smith on those touchdowns. Sayin was about as good as one can get, completing 21-of-25 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns (no picks).

His day was done early in the third quarter after his 13-yard pass to Bo Jackson set up the running back's 65-yard TD rush.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore had a great day, completing 28-of-37 passes for 378 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-27 home win over the Boise State Broncos.

The No. 2 Ducks survived a serious upset attempt, though, as BSU was up 17-7 early.

However, Oregon scored 17 straight points for a 24-17 lead and later took a 34-27 advantage after Dante Moore and wide receiver Dakorien Moore, who showcased a tremendous effort, connected on a 62-yard touchdown.

Lastly, Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover had big cleats to fill after Heisman Trophy winner and national champion Fernando Mendoza left for the NFL, but he got off to a fantastic start, connecting on 13-of-16 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-16 home win over North Texas.

Hoover got busted up during the game after drawing a face mask penalty, but that didn't stop him from playing.

Ultimately, one of every four of Hoover's throws resulted in a touchdown pass.

Hoover and the Hoosiers will now face Howard on Saturday at noon ET.
