Former Manchester United player implores club to push for Harry Kane
FC Bayern is not selling Harry Kane to Manchester United.
Quinton Fortune knows a thing or two about Manchester United. The former South African international spent seven seasons at Old Trafford from 1999 to 2006, making more than 100 appearances for the club and winning three Premier League titles, a Champions League, and an FA Cup.
Now, Fortune is making a very simple argument about what his former club should do if it gets the opportunity to sign Harry Kane. According to Fortune, United should not hesitate.
"He's not young but given what he's achieved, Man Utd should go and get Harry Kane as soon as possible, whatever it takes. He is exactly what they need," Fortune told BOYLE Sports, who offers the latest Premier League odds . "If there's any chance of bringing Harry Kane in, do whatever it takes because the man is a natural-born goalscorer. Give him service and he will score goals. It's as simple as that. You give him service, he will put the ball in the back of the net. Just go and get him. Simple as that. If there's a possibility, there's a small chance of going to it. Don't wait any longer because what a player he is, my goodness."
It is difficult to get much more emphatic than that, but the reality is that Kane is not going anywhere.
Fortune's argument is built around something that has defined Kane throughout his career — goals. The England captain has consistently demonstrated that he does not need to dominate a match to decide it. Give him the right service, and he can turn opportunities into goals. That is also why the idea of Kane returning to England would generate so much interest.
Kane has already rewritten plenty of records since moving to Bayern Munich, while continuing to produce at an extraordinary level. He has shown that his game is about far more than simply finishing chances, too. His ability to link play, bring teammates into attacks, create opportunities, and still operate as an elite finisher makes him an unusual profile for a striker.
Fortune clearly believes that is exactly what United needs. However, Kane remains under contract with Bayern Munich and is rumored to be closing in on a two-year extension with the Englishman. So while Fortune may be dreaming of Kane in Manchester, FC Bayern supporters know that the answer to United's hypothetical pursuit remains a very simple one — better luck next time.
