Flick has a chat with Barcelona midfielder struggling for minutes ahead of Racing clash

FC Barcelona completed their final training session on Tuesday ahead of their meeting with Racing Santander at the Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday night.

Following Monday's recovery session, Hansi Flick had all available players at his disposal as his side prepared for their fifth La Liga match of the season.

Before the session began, the German coach briefly spoke with Gavi at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper , as reported by Mundo Deportivo .

The midfielder has seen limited action during the opening weeks of the campaign. He started against Elche , but Flick replaced him as a precaution after he took a knock to his knee.

The injury proved to be nothing serious, but Gavi was left out of the squads for the matches against Athletic Club and Rayo Vallecano , before remaining on the bench for the 5-0 victory at Mestalla.

He then played 11 minutes against Feyenoord in the Champions League but was an unused substitute once again in the subsequent match against Levante .

As things stand, the likes of Pedri , Rodri , and even Marc Bernal are ahead of Gavi in the pecking order, leading to him struggling for minutes in recent matches.

Wednesday's meeting with Racing could therefore provide another opportunity for Flick to manage his midfield options and give Gavi further minutes.

Flick was able to work with his entire available squad, with only Frenkie de Jong and Roony Bardghji remaining sidelined through injury.

Jesse Bisiwu also completed the session with the first team. The youngster has regularly trained alongside Flick's squad but is yet to make his senior debut for Barcelona .

Bisiwu has instead made two appearances for Barça Atletic, including a promising performance against Logrones B last weekend.

Barcelona have two matches remaining before the upcoming international break, which will be longer than usual.

After Wednesday's meeting with Racing, they will travel to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan to face Sevilla on Saturday.

The Catalan side are looking to finish this opening stretch of the season by maintaining their advantage at the top of the table.
