Army is going to wear special uniforms honoring the legacy of the Ivy Soldier for its highly anticipated rivalry showdown with Navy, so it was only fitting for a special guest to be the one to show off the new look.
With members of the armed forces in attendance for Fox NFL Sunday as part of a live audience ahead of Veterans Day on Wednesday, Rob Gronkowski showed off the new jerseys with his signature spike before taking off his helmet to reveal it was him.
Michael Strahan was on stage and also played a role in the reveal.
The New York Giants legend narrated the hype video for the new look:
"Ivy moves with the wind," Strahan said. "Quiet, steady, unassuming. But look closer, and you'll find something much stronger. Strong enough to endure, adaptable enough to overcome and resilient enough to grow where others cannot. These are more than characteristics, these are the qualities of a fighting force. A division known throughout the United States Army as the Ivy Soldiers."
He finishes the video by exclaiming, "Go Army, Beat Navy!"
Navy has won the last two matchups, although Army is 6-4 in the last 10.
This year's game takes place on Dec. 12 and could have bowl implications for the Black Knights in particular following a 5-4 start.
