North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick received a game ball from wide receiver Jordan Shipp after picking up his first ranked win with the Tar Heels' 21-17 victory over No. 25 Pitt on Saturday.

"Before we break, first ranked win," Shipp told Belichick in the locker room in a video posted on X (0:43 mark). "Plenty more to come. You've gone through a lot of fire, you helped us prepare, you do a lot for us. First game ball, Coach B."

Belichick is in the midst of his second season as North Carolina's head coach following his legendary stint with the New England Patriots, during which he won six Super Bowl titles.

The Tar Heels posted a 4-8 record during his first year at the school in 2025, but Saturday's win brought them to 3-2 this season.

North Carolina didn't start off strong against Pitt, facing a 10-0 deficit in the second quarter before trailing 10-7 at halftime.

After both teams traded touchdowns near the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth, the Tar Heels gained a four-point edge with a 75-yard touchdown reception by tight end Shamar Easter.

They wouldn't relinquish the lead for the remainder of the contest, as Belichick's defense kept the Panthers from scoring on each of their final four drives.

North Carolina quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. finished 18-of-26 for 249 yards and two touchdowns to go along with a pair of interceptions.

As for Shipp, he caught six passes for a game-high 93 yards.
