Texas RB Hollywood Smothers surprisingly added to injury report, questionable vs. Tennessee

The first injury report for this weekend's clash between No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee came with a bit of a surprise.

Texas starting running back Hollywood Smothers has been ruled questionable for the game, in addition to defensive lineman Justus Terry , defensive back Xavier Filsaime and offensive lineman Jordan Coleman all being ruled out. Tight end Nick Townsend is also doubtful.

Per On3 , Smothers is dealing with a lower body injury and his availability will be decided based on how the week progresses.

Smothers joined Steve Sarkisian's program this season after two years at North Carolina State. He's had a successful start with the Longhorns, logging 198 rushing yards on 41 carries, 54 receiving yards and three total touchdowns in three games for the undefeated team.

That included the game-winning leap in Texas' epic comeback win against then-No. 1 Ohio State .

If Smothers is unable to play, Raleek Brown has posted the second-most carries on the team with 31, which he has turned into 129 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Freshmen Derrek Cooper and Michael Terry III are the only other runners on the team with double-digit carries.
