AP Top 25: Texas moves to No. 1, Ohio State drops to No. 6 after Longhorns' comeback win

Texas is the new No. 1 team in the country. And it's not even close.

The Longhorns got 56 of 68 first-place votes in the post-Week 2 AP poll following their 24-23 comeback win over Ohio State. The Buckeyes, who entered the game at No. 1, dropped five spots to No. 6.

Texas was at No. 4 ahead of the game and leapfrogged Georgia and Notre Dame for the top spot. The Bulldogs are at No. 2 and the Irish are No. 3 after each team had an easy win in Week 2.

Indiana and Miami round out the top five ahead of Ohio State. Both teams had blowout wins over FCS opponents on Saturday.

Oregon was at No. 6 entering Week 2 but tumbled after a shocking 39-31 loss to an Oklahoma State team that opened the season with a loss to Tulsa. The Ducks, who beat the Cowboys 69-3 a year ago, fell all the way to No. 21.

Michigan is back in the AP poll after its win over Oklahoma. The Wolverines re-entered the poll at No. 19 after falling out following their controversial 13-12 win over Western Michigan in Week 1. Oklahoma, who was No. 11 before the loss, is now at No. 24.

Behind Ohio State, the top 10 is completed by LSU, Ole Miss , Texas A&M and Alabama. That streak of SEC teams means the conference has six teams in the top 10 and nine overall in the top 25.

Miami actually ended up with the second-most first-place votes at four, while Indiana and Georgia each got three votes. Notre Dame and LSU each received one first-place vote.
