Despite leading No. 4 Notre Dame to an easy 41-13 victory over Wisconsin in Sunday's season opener, quarterback CJ Carr isn't getting too ahead of himself.

Carr told reporters after the victory that while these blowouts are expected of the Fighting Irish, he knows they're not the norm, so he's approaching each game with a competitive mindset.

"Outside of our building, there can be a narrative that college football is easy, and we should steamroll teams," Carr said, per ESPN's Adam Rittenberg . "The reality is that's a really good Wisconsin team with some really good players. So, adjusting and staying consistent throughout the game was really helpful for us."

Carr was 19-of-29 for 239 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over the Badgers. He was much more efficient in the second half of the game, completing 10 of 13 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown in what Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman called an "excellent" performance.

Carr admitted that it took until the end of the first half for the offense to get into a rhythm, and the Fighting Irish used that momentum in the second half with touchdown drives of 70, 75 and 88 yards.

"The results showed that we wanted a fight, and that's what we got," Carr said.

Notre Dame will look to continue its dominance when it hosts Rice in Week 2 on Saturday.
