LSU's Funny 4+ Post Goes Viral amid Saga Surrounding Jayden Daniels' No. 5 Jersey

LSU is counting down the days until their season opener against Clemson on Saturday, and they mysteriously skipped right on past the No. 5 in those posts.
The joke comes at the expense of Washington Commanders quarterback and former LSU player Jayden Daniels, who sent a cease-and-desist to the school after it allowed sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett to wear No. 5, which Daniels wore at the school during his Heisman Trophy season.
While LSU never formally retired his number, the school hadn't fielded a No. 5 on its roster since Daniels last played there in 2023.
"Jayden made it clear that he did not want his number given to another player, and he believed his wishes would be respected," a statement from Daniels' spokesperson read. "His Heisman Trophy-winning season and everything he accomplished on and off the field cemented his place in LSU history. To see his number given to another player is incredibly disappointing and feels like a failure to honor the significance of what Jayden accomplished at LSU."
And now it's fodder for the school's social media admin.
