Texas' Steve Sarkisian 'Shocked' Michigan Fans Stormed Field After Controversial WMU Win

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian shared the opinion of a lot of college football fans when it came to Michigan's dramatic win over Western Michigan in Week 1.

"I think the thing that shocked me most was that they stormed the field. That was a surprise," he told reporters Monday.

Michigan appeared to have suffered an embarrassing loss to open the season.

A Hail Mary attempt by quarterback Bryce Underwood went out of the back of the end zone as time expired. Following an official review, though, one second was added back to the clock.

Underwood's redo found Wolverines receiver JJ Buchanan in the end zone for the win. The game-winning grab prompted a lot of fans to rush the field.

The euphoria in the moment led a lot of people at Michigan Stadium to ignore the fact the home team was a 27.5-point favorite and incredibly fortunate to come away victorious.

In almost no circumstance do you rush the field after surviving an upset bid from a MAC team within your own state. You would've thought the Wolverines toppled Ohio State or captured a national title based solely on the scene.

Sarkisian's subtle swipe during Monday's presser said it all.
