Official: Barcelona star ruled out for ‘the next few weeks’ with injury

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday confirmed that a member of the club's defensive ranks will spend the upcoming international break being treated for an injury setback.

Stopper Christensen for his part set alarm bells ringing in Catalunya's capital yesterday evening. Afforded a starting berth in Barcelona's La Liga meeting with Sevilla , the Dane was forced off during the 2nd-half.

From here, Christensen – no stranger to injury – was spotted looking inconsolable on the bench, as his left leg was strapped with an ice pack.

And as alluded to above, 24 hours on, Barca's medical team have provided an update on the situation. As per a statement released across the Blaugrana's website and social media platforms:

'The tests carried out have confirmed that first-team player Andreas Christensen is suffering from a muscular injury to the anterior rectus of the left quadriceps. He will be out for the next few weeks and his progress will determine his availability.'
