Who should be the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week?

Fall sports are in full swing, with football, volleyball and cross country seasons underway.

Standouts from each sport are among this week's nominees for the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week.

The Globe-News is taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week each week.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close noon Thursday and the winners will be announced thereafter.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. each Saturday and can be submitted through email at sports@amarillo.com.

Please include statistics from the week's games and any pertinent information or honors.

Chloe Brown, Randall volleyball — Brown notched 14 digs, seven aces, five kills and three assists in a win against Borger as well as 12 kills, 9 digs and two aces in a win against Hereford.

Kaitlin Lucas, Highland Park volleyball — Lucas logged 29 assists and 10 digs in a win against Abernathy.

Jett Pittman, Gruver football — Pittman went 13-of-24 through the air, throwing for 335 yards and six touchdowns while adding another score on the ground in the Greyhounds' win against Wellington.

Presli Pool, Canyon girls cross country — Pool won the Canyon Invitational cross country meet with a time of 16 minutes, 42.07 seconds, leading Canyon to a first-place finish in the team standings.

Julian Reese II, Palo Duro football — Reese went 14-of-24 through the air, throwing for 192 yards and two touchdowns while adding 10 carries for 143 yards and three scores on the ground in a win against Wichita Falls Legacy.

Sy Richardson, Amarillo High football — Richardson ran for 289 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries in the Sandies' win against Frenship Memorial, adding one catch for five yards.

Idaly Sotelo, West Plains volleyball — Sotelo tallied 18 digs and two aces in a win against Perryton and 34 digs in a win against Hereford.

Jailen Vasquez, Spearman football — Vasquez went 10-of-12 through the air, throwing for 130 yards and two touchdowns while adding 113 yards rushing and three more scores on the ground in a win against Abernathy.
