Napoli's stuttering start in Serie A continued as Roma twice fought back to secure a 3-3 draw in a dramatic Derby del Sole.
Frank Anguissa's brilliant over-head kick had put the home side in front at the break, with Scott McTominay nodding in a second soon after the restart.
Roma, though, launched a late fightback when Matias Soule reduced the deficit with 20 minutes left and defender Leonardo Balerdi bundled in an equalizer.
Scotland midfielder McTominay – who had scored twice in the 4-3 Champions League win over Bodø/Glimt as his return to action from heart surgery continued – then drilled in a low strike from 20 yards.
Roma, though, hauled themselves back on level terms again in the final minute through a towering header from Balerdi.
Napoli had swept into the lead after 26 minutes through a fine strike from Anguissa.
A free-kick from the left was floated into the Roma area, which was not properly cleared. The ball dropped on the penalty spot for Anguissa, who had his back to goal but spun to dispatch an acrobatic over-head kick looping into the top corner.
McTominay looked to have put the game beyond Roma three minutes into the second half.
The Scotland international met a lofted cross to the back post with a diving header which was scrambled out from behind the line by Roma keeper Pierluigi Gollini, but McTominay then knocked the loose ball back in anyway.
Napoli pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left through Soule's curling left-foot finish before Balerdi bundled in a knockdown from a corner in the 74th minute.
McTominay drilled Napoli back in front for what looked to be a winning goal with seven minutes left, but Roma responded again when Balerdi headed in at the back post.
