Manchester United XI vs Leeds United – Predicted lineup and team news

Manchester United visit Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon on six points from six league games, without a win in their last four league matches.

Michael Carrick's side have lost three and drawn two of their last five games in all competitions, since a 4-0 win over Sabah on 10 September. They drew 1-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur, who had Rodrigo Bentancur sent off, then lost 2-0 at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, conceding after 53 seconds and finishing with 10 men after Leny Yoro was sent off. United have not won any of their four away games this season, and Leeds beat them 2-1 at Old Trafford in April.

Benjamin Sesko (shin) is out, with Carrick saying he is still a little further away and needs more checks. Patrick Dorgu (hamstring), Tom Heaton (abdominals) and Manuel Ugarte (ACL) are also out. Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo missed the Atletico game through injury and will face late fitness tests, and Noussair Mazraoui has only recently returned to training. Matthijs de Ligt is back in contention after almost a year out with a back problem.

Lisandro Martinez, who criticised the club's technical director Jason Wilcox after the Atletico defeat, has been confirmed in the squad by Carrick and could start alongside Harry Maguire. If Shaw is not fit, Diogo Dalot is likely at left-back with Yoro on the right. Carlos Baleba may make his first Premier League start alongside Youri Tielemans if Mainoo is unavailable. Bruno Fernandes is expected at number 10 behind Bryan Mbeumo, with Amad Diallo and Matheus Cunha either side.

Manchester United possible starting XI: Lammens; Yoro, Maguire, Martinez, Dalot; Tielemans, Baleba; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo

The Premier League match kicks off at 14:00 BST on Sunday, 18 October 2026.
