Florida State's thrilling upset attempt against third-ranked and arch-rival Miami fell just short on Saturday evening as the Hurricanes prevailed 43-35 in double overtime.
The final two plays did not go FSU's way.
First, FSU appeared to have scored a touchdown on 4th-and-21 from the 36 when quarterback Ashton Daniels found Micahi Danzy in the end zone, but FSU left tackle Xavier Chaplin was penalized for holding.
FSU then launched another Hail Mary attempt. Daniels heaved the ball to the end zone at Duce Robinson, and he and defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald competed for the pigskin. Officials ultimately ruled that Fitzgerald got the interception, and a review upheld the decision.
After the game, FSU head coach Mike Norvell was asked about the final two plays. In short, he isn't pleased with either call.
