Notre Dame would typically be the talk of the town, but this version seems to be flying under the radar.

Notre Dame football typically makes headlines week in and week out of the college football season.

But this year, the Fighting Irish have been flying under the radar when it comes to the national scene.

This week, Notre Dame absolutely dominated an overmatched Stanford team, 58-7. With the win, Marcus Freeman's group is now 6-0 ahead of a showdown with BYU on the road.

Fighting Irish Look The Part Of A National Title Contender

Despite the lack of talk, Notre Dame seems to have the pieces in place to make the College Football Playoff.

They had no trouble with Wisconsin or Rice to begin the season. A 17-point victory over Michigan State followed before besting Purdue on the road by 39.

Notre Dame got by a pesky North Carolina team that is playing better than ever.

CJ Carr has been exceptional at quarterback. Carr is completing 71 percent of his passes for almost 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has thrown just one interception on 124 attempts, adding three rushing TDs.

Jonaz Walton has been on fire running the football as of late. He is one of three players with over 228 yards, averaging almost six per carry.

Aneyas Williams leads with 266 and four TDs, as Nolan James, Jr. has 262 and three touchdowns. Jordan Faison and Micah Gilbert have over 700 yards receiving and six scores.

Notre Dame's Schedule Features Just Three Hurdles This Season

In addition to this coming Saturday's showdown on the road at BYU, the Fighting Irish have just two other real hurdles. And both of those games will take place in South Bend, Indiana.

After playing Navy to close out October, Notre Dame will welcome in Miami. They host Boston College the following week and play a third straight home contest against SMU.

Syracuse is the season finale and possibly all that stands between the Fighting Irish and an undefeated season.
