LSU head coach Lane Kiffin discussed the No. 7 Tigers' 24-7 halftime deficit against No. 8 Ole Miss during their matchup on Saturday night.

"Well, we got a little momentum there on that drive," Kiffin told ESPN's Holly Rowe at the end of the first half. "Sam made a big play and obviously Trinidad's making a bunch of plays and we've got to do a better job containing him, which was the whole game plan against him. We've got another half, we've got to go in and regroup."

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss excelled against LSU's defense in the first half, throwing for 248 yards and two touchdowns without committing a turnover.

Meanwhile, the Tigers fell into a 17-0 hole before they were finally able to get on the board.

Kiffin was making his return to Vaught–Hemingway Stadium for the first time since he left Ole Miss to become head coach of LSU during the 2025 season.

The Tigers' offense struggled in the first half, finishing with just 117 total yards through two quarters of action.

LSU experienced issues on the ground, rushing for a mere 66 yards on 19 attempts as a team.

Tigers quarterback Sam Leavitt was 9-of-13 for 51 yards through two quarters, as he didn't record a touchdown or interception. It's worth noting that he extended a play with his legs and made an impressive throw during LSU's lone touchdown drive of the opening half.

The Tigers entered Saturday's SEC clash with a 2-0 record on the season, outscoring their first two opponents by a combined total of 96-24.
