Updated Weather Forecast for Lane Kiffin, LSU vs. Dabo Swinney, Clemson Amid Lightning Delay

Lane Kiffin and LSU's season-opening game against Dabo Swinney and Clemson entered a lightning delay on Saturday due to stormy conditions forecasted by The Weather Channel .

Neither team took the field for pregame warmups due to the delay, via On3.com.

The Weather Channel predicts at least 70 percent chance of thunderstorms in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at 6 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. ET.

The weather service predicts that thunderstorms are likely to end at around 8:15 p.m. ET.

Kickoff for the game was initially scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

LSU will be playing its first contest under Kiffin, who was hired by the school after compiling a 55-19 record during his previous role as head coach at Ole Miss.

The Tigers are attempting to bounce back from a disappointing 2025 campaign, finishing with a 7-6 overall record that included a 3-5 mark against SEC opponents.

LSU made several changes to its roster during Kiffin's first offseason at the school and compiled the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country this year, per 247Sports' rankings .

Meanwhile, Clemson is similarly looking to improve upon a 7-6 finish last year.

Swinney's team will look vastly different in 2026 with the addition of seven new offensive starters, including quarterback Christopher Vizzina. Clemson also brought back Chad Morris as the team's offensive coordinator during the offseason.

As LSU and Clemson looked to make an early statement on Saturday, their matchup wasn't able to begin as scheduled due to lightning in the area.
