Freshman Derrek Cooper left Texas ' home opener in the first half against Texas State with a slight limp as he and the athletic training staff walked into the locker room. He returned in the sideline in the second half with a boot on his right foot.
Cooper had two carries for six yards during a game that showed how much the running back position has improved sine last season. In total for Texas, eight ball carriers (including quarterback Arch Manning ) rushed for 156 yards. Texas mandhandled Texas State 59-7.
