Preview: Back at Deutsche Bank Park

Eintracht welcome Augsburg to Deutsche Bank Park on Sunday, exactly 113 days since their last home match. Adi Hütter's home record in 2020/21 as well as the new capacity offer cause for optimism.

Exactly 113 days will have passed between the final home game of the 2025/26 season (2-2 draw against Stuttgart) and the first home fixture of the new campaign. On Sunday 6 September, the Eagles host FC Augsburg at 17:30 CEST.

Following the 3-3 draw at Union Berlin on Matchday 1 of the Bundesliga, board member for sport Markus Krösche gave his assessment: "It's frustrating that we squandered a 3-1 lead, but we're talking about the first matchday. Now the full focus is on the home game against FC Augsburg." Eintracht's opponents beat promoted side Schalke 04 3-0 at home on the opening weekend.

The Eagles fielded the youngest starting line-up on Matchday 1 by some distance with 23 years and 137 days, followed by Paderborn, Leipzig, Dortmund, Elversberg, Köln and then Augsburg in seventh place.

New signing Lilian Brassier, 26, who was announced on Monday, could change that alone. So too in particular could 34-year-old Mario Götze and Timothy Chandler, who at 36 is on the verge of his 200 th competitive appearance for Eintracht. Both were unused substitutes in Berlin.

A player for almost two decades and a coach since 2008, Adi Hütter has not tired of emphasising how much he missed the atmosphere at Deutsche Bank Park since his return. The last time he took charge of an Eintracht home match, on 22 May 2021, the stadium was closed because of COVID-19.On that occasion, Frankfurt beat SC Freiburg 3-1 to take their points tally to 60 and finish the 2020/21 campaign as the only team besides FC Bayern München to remain unbeaten at home in the Bundesliga.

Thankfully, Deutsche Bank Park has been fully open again since early 2022 – and from this season, it has an increased capacity of 60,100. The atmosphere will be as magnificent as ever, but the Eagles are determined to get a result to match.
