Lane Kiffin Reportedly Wants LSU to 'Embarrass' Ole Miss in Return to Oxford for CFB Revenge Game

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin reportedly wants more than just a revenge victory when his team faces his old one in Ole Miss on Saturday.

"He doesn't just want to beat these guys," one LSU source told Chris Low of On3. "He wants to embarrass them, and he wants the heat, wants every bit of it."

There will surely be plenty of "heat" waiting for him at Ole Miss.

Kiffin coached the Rebels to the College Football Playoff last season but left to take the head coaching job with LSU before the start of the postseason. While he publicly made it known he wanted to remain there to coach in the CFP, Ole Miss decided against it.

"Ole Miss doesn't want Kiffin around its players with the transfer portal opening on Jan. 2," ESPN's Mark Schlabach and Pete Thamel reported at the time. "The Rebels also don't want their CFP games to be a 'commercial' for LSU's future under Kiffin."

The Rebels ended up reaching the semifinals without him and are once again positioned to challenge for a title this season if the early rankings are any indication.

They are No. 8 in the country, while LSU is No. 7. The winner of Saturday's showdown will have a major building block for their resume in both the SEC race and the overall CFP picture as the season progresses.

Still, Kiffin's return is even overshadowing the on-field storylines.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety ann ounced there will be enhanced law enforcement presence for the game, while Ole Miss sent a message to its students saying it will not allow anyone with LSU gear to sit in the student section.

For his part, Kiffin wants his players to focus on the game.

"I guess there's real safety issues and stuff, so there's people that have a plan for that," he told reporters . "I told the players today, 'Man, you don't have anything to worry about as far as, like, attention on you all week and everything. There's going to be so much attention, hatred, everything on me. You just get to go play.'"

Going out and playing is the only way the Tigers will be able to get the blowout victory Kiffin is reportedly looking for Saturday.
