The Magpies are set pay Lille in the region of £55m for the 21-year-old Belgium international.

Final details are being discussed but there is hope and belief Newcastle have got their man. Fernandez-Pardo is set to travel to Newcastle on Monday evening to finalise his move.

Newcastle see the signing of forward Fernandez-Pardo as on a par with that of Nico Gonzalez, who joined the club last week from Man City for £50m.

He scored eight goals in 41 games for Lille last season and was included in Belgium's squad for the 2026 World Cup. His call-up came after he initially switched his international allegiance to Spain, and featured in youth-team training camps, but never made a competitive appearance.

His arrival will allow Nick Woltemade to leave on loan, with Juventus in direct talks with Newcastle over the German striker.

Forest interested in late move for Murphy

Latest from Sky Sports News' Anton Toloui, Keith Downie and Mark McAdam:

Nottingham Forest could make a late move for Newcastle forward Jacob Murphy.

Forest are keen on Murphy and are in the market for forwards amid the departure of Omari Hutchinson to AC Milan.

Newcastle have not formally been made aware yet but there is believed to have been interest from Forest earlier in the window, as well as Everton .
