Edin Džeko always knew Bayern Munich’s Vincent Kompany would succeed as manager

Edin Džeko has seen Bayern Munich's Vincent Kompany evolve from Manchester City captain to one of Europe's most intriguing young managers — and apparently, the signs were there all along.

The two shared a bus with Joleon Lescott and Aleksandar Kolarov during their Manchester City days, sitting together at the very back, listening to music and having plenty of fun.

"What Kompany has already achieved is incredible. He was always a captain and a leader, so none of this surprises me. We used to sit together at the very back of the bus: Kompany, Joleon Lescott, Aleksandar Kolarov, and me. We listened to music and always had a lot of fun, while Kompany would just sit there looking at his laptop. 'What are you doing? What are you always studying?' we used to ask him. Then, when he got Burnley promoted as a manager, I texted him: 'Brate (brother), now I understand. I'm looking forward to seeing him. Hopefully, he won't take things quite so seriously on Saturday," Džeko told Süddeutsche Zeitung (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ).

Now the former teammates meet again, with Kompany on the Bayern Munich touchline and Džeko hoping his old friend remembers how to have a little fun.

Just maybe not too much fun at Bayern's expense.
