Texas High School Football: North Crowley’s shutout of Aledo was historic

North Crowley wasted no time reminding the rest of Texas that its once again a top contender in Class 6A-D1. The Panthers blanked Aledo 26-0 in a matchup of top-10 teams in the Lone Star State — per the Rivals Composite Rankings — on Friday night.

The game was Aledo's first since moving up to the 6A classification. The rude welcome was unfortunately a historic one for the Bearcats. It's the first time that Aledo has been shutout since 2003, when it lost 17-0 to Denton Ryan .

To get a better idea as to how much of an offensive struggle the game was for the visitors, take this stat courtesy of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Charles Baggarly: Aledo finished with -17 rushing yards on 40 carries.

Aledo had just 178 yards of total offense. North Crowley scored all 26 of its points in the first half. Senior quarterback Jacob Torres threw three touchdowns, the first of which went to junior wide receiver Damarion Mays , a top-100 prospect in the 2028 cycle.

It's a sobering start to the year for Aledo, which still ranks as the No. 59 team in the nation and No. 10 team in Texas, according to the Rivals Composite Rankings. Up next for the Bearcats is their home-opener vs. Waco Midway this Friday, Sept. 4.

North Crowley continues string of high-profile games

The 1-0 start will have new head coach DeMarcus Harris excited about what the 2026 season could bring North Crowley, but there's no time to ponder the future. The first half of the Panthers' schedule is incredibly challenging.

Up next, the No. 36 team in the nation and No. 6 team in Texas hosts Southlake Carroll , the No. 5 team in the state. No. 13 Summer Creek will then come to town and a road trip to No. 3 Duncanville will follow. Every game will be loaded with prospects.

North Crowley's secondary is incredibly loaded itself. Senior four-star cornerback Jerry Outhouse , senior three-star safety Elijajuan Houston and junior three-star safety Brock Lacy lead the way. Outhouse, a UCLA commit, is the No. 16 CB in the 2027 cycle.

It's also worth noting that the Panthers almost brought in Five-Star Plus+ CB John Meredith , the former No. 2 overall prospect in the nation, but he was ruled ineligible and opted to reclassify and join the Texas Longhorns early instead.

Mays is the top receiver target for Torres, but there's also junior three-star WR Hayden Green , senior three-star tight end Jeramie Cooper and senior three-star running back G'yrell Smith , a North Texas commit.
