Fantasy football managers should be afforded a bit of relief heading into Week 9 of the 2026 NFL season.

It's not a relax-and-let-your-guard-down kind of break, but it should be a helpful one nonetheless.

For starters, only two teams have byes in Week 9, and they aren't exactly fantasy juggernauts (Pittsburgh and Tennessee). And while the injury hits keep on coming, we're deep enough into the campaign that some of the players hurt earlier this season have either returned or are nearing their comebacks.

The real icing on the cake, though, is the fact there are legitimately exciting options available on the waiver wire (rostered in fewer than 60 percent of fantasy leagues, per FantasyPros ). That isn't always the case, but the following three possible pickups all have us excited about their immediate impact and longer outlook.

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Arizona Cardinals (53% Rostered)

The Cardinals just secured their best win of the season and lost two running backs in the process: Jeremiyah Love (ankle) and Bam Knight (concussion).

How is that possible? Well, Gardner Minshew II sometimes morphs into a miracle-worker, and Tyler Allgeier proved he's capable of more than just mashing in goal-line carries.

Allgeier was unstoppable on Sunday. His 11 carries yielded 147 yards and a touchdown. His five targets delivered five catches for 44 yards and another score. Heading into Monday night, he has the second-most fantasy points from Week 8 of anyone (half-PPR scoring format).

If he controls the backfield for a bit while the others deal with injuries, he could be a viable starting running back in fantasy. But the fact he warrants flex consideration even when the others are at full strength is what should make him a no-brainer addition.

Jonah Coleman, RB, Denver Broncos (57% Rostered)

Fantasy managers were advised last week already to get out and get Coleman.

Not enough of them listened. But if they don't heed the advice this time around, they won't get another opportunity to correct that mistake.

Coleman looked good in his first game back from injury last week, but he looked great on Sunday. He needed only 15 touches (11 carries, four catches on five targets) to tally 104 scrimmage yards and a score.

The Broncos may not always utilize their running backs exactly the way we'd like, but it feels like this toothpaste can't go back into the tube. Coleman looks dynamic, and Denver's offense could certainly stand to be more dynamic.

Adonai Mitchell, WR, New York Jets (11% Rostered)

Last week, Mitchell played his first game in more than a month after undergoing finger surgery. The Jets slow-played him right away, ultimately sending him just three targets and not connecting on any.

This week, though, the kid gloves came off—and the production returned almost immediately.

New York looked his way early and often, and Las Vegas never found a way to quiet his impact. By game's end, Mitchell had managed to turn nine targets into seven receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown.

This receiving room is a little crowded (Omar Cooper Jr. went silent Sunday), so there is certainly boom-or-bust to Mitchell's profile. That said, he just flashed a high enough reward to justify the risk.
