Fernando Mendoza Follows 'True Passion' with New Video Series Amid NFL Rookie Season with Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Fernando Mendoza is launching a fiscal responsibility series called "Finance with Fernando," which the rookie described as a "practical guide for Gen Z to make the most of their money."

The series is through U.S. Bank, which launched a brand campaign on Aug. 31 with Mendoza, a.k.a. the "Chief Financial Playmaker."

"The campaign brings Mendoza's passion for football and finance together to help make money conversations more approachable for younger audiences, NFL fans and U.S. Bank clients," a press release read.

"The new work is part of the bank's broader brand platform, 'The Power of Us,' and builds on the company's role as an Official Bank and Wealth Management Sponsor of the NFL. Acknowledging that Gen Z faces real financial stress, Mendoza as Chief Financial Playmaker helps to make banking feel like one less thing to worry about – one cozy conversation at a time."

Mendoza is a good source. Last year, the Heisman Trophy winner (and No. 1 overall pick in April's NFL draft) graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Cal's Haas School of Business.

Mendoza played football at Cal before transferring to Indiana before the 2025 season, where he took MBA courses at the Kelley School of Business.

When he wasn't in the classroom, Mendoza was guiding the Hoosiers to a 16-0 record and their first-ever national championship.

Now he's in the NFL on a fully guaranteed $57.3 million deal . One can safely assume Mendoza will know how to manage that money well.

In the meantime, he's waiting in the wings as the Raiders' backup quarterback while veteran Kirk Cousins starts and leads the squad on a promising 2-0 start. Mendoza will be the franchise signal-caller someday, but in his downtime, he's hoping to teach people a thing or two about fiscal responsibility.
