Bears' Caleb Williams Says He 'Fell in Love' with Chicago, Admits He Wasn't Sure He'd Like City

The Chicago Bears quarterback appeared on the latest episode of Hot Ones and expressed his love for the city while handling a number of hot wings.

"I didn't think I was going to like it that much, to be honest," he said (1:45 mark). "And I fell in love with the city of Chicago. The people, the food, obviously the sports. I've got a couple other friends that are playing in Chicago sports. PCA. Matas."

PCA and Matas are Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs and Matas Buzelis of the Chicago Bulls. They are two notable names alongside Williams and Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks in a group of prominent young athletes who are all becoming household names in the Windy City at the same time.

Crow-Armstrong is on pace to be the National League MVP this season, while Williams led the Bears to their first NFC North title since 2018 and graces the cover of the latest edition of the Madden video game.

They're becoming two of the faces of their leagues simultaneously, and it is happening right as Williams falls in love with the city.

The Bears surely want him to be the face of the franchise for the next decade-plus, so his love for Chicago is welcome news for fans and the front office. He will be eligible for a new contract extension next offseason and recently said he is focused on far more than just money.

"Money's not a motivating factor for me in that sense," Williams said, per Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times . "If I wanted to be done today, I'd be fine. If I wanted to be done and go somewhere and disappear for a long time and never come back and y'all would never see me again, I'd be OK. That's not my motivation. Winning, winning, winning handles everything… so that's where my mind's at."

The Bears did plenty of winning last season in large part because Williams made a second-year leap under new head coach Ben Johnson.

He threw for a franchise-record 3,942 yards, led Chicago to a postseason victory over the archrival Green Bay Packers and is the primary reason there is so much optimism surrounding the team.

And more winning will only mean more love between Williams and the city.
