Will Campbell Sends Nine-Word Message to Patriots' Drake Maye Amid Struggles

Maye and the Patriots need to be better in the near future.

The New England Patriots offense has been one of the worst units in the NFL to start the season, now 1-2 on the year.

As the Patriots get prepared to head into the bulk of this tough schedule, taking on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, a 3-0 Las Vegas Raiders team, and some other promising teams throughout the remainder of the season, that's going to have to change.

The Patriots have many reasons they haven't been able to do enough on that side of the ball, but quarterback Drake Maye has been the biggest issue. Maye hasn't thrown the football at the level anyone expects, now just 51-of-80 for one touchdown and six interceptions.

He has 585 yards, and he hasn't thrown for more than 208 in any of the first three games of the season. He also hasn't been great with his legs, another issue in itself.

While many in the fan base have been frustrated, and it sounds like some of the coaching staff has been too, certain players are still riding with him.

Will Campbell, who also struggled as a rookie last season, sent a short but sweet message to his young quarterback.

"We're riding with him until the wheels come off," Campbell said, H/T USA Today .

Less than nine months ago, Maye looked like one of the bright young stars at quarterback in the NFL.

While things have been very ugly to start this season, it wouldn't make much sense if he just lost all of who he is and suddenly started doing this.

Perhaps there's more to his shoulder injury than people are leading on, as that would seem to make sense as of now.
