The Tennessee Titans took another step toward a rebuild while the Chicago Bears set themselves up as a win-now team with the Thursday trade of All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.

The Bears sent a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 first-rounder and a 2027 fourth-rounder to the Titans in order to acquire Simmons alongside a 2028 fifth-rounder, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday.

The Titans are now set to hold nine picks in the upcoming draft, including two in the first round and five in the top four rounds, according to Tankathon .

Tennessee will join the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns as teams with multiple first-rounders in the upcoming draft.

The Titans are also on track to hold multiple first-round picks in the 2028 draft.

The Bears will be able to upgrade their defensive line with the addition of Simmons to the interior. Here's a look at Chicago's front four barring the return of Dayo Odeyingbo:

Simmons signed an extension in June that made him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history .

The Bears will be on the hook to pay Simmons $7.9 million this season before his deal balloons to $26.9 million in guaranteed money in 2027, per Spotrac.

That deal is currently guaranteed through 2027. Simmons will lock in his 2028 salary if he is still on the roster March 15.

The Titans took on dead cap hits of $14.1 million in 2026 and $20.8 million in 2027 by moving Simmons, per Spotrac's Mike Ginnitti .

Tennessee ultimately paid $25.3 million to have Simmons play seven games with the franchise this season, per Ginnitti.

The Bears are currently projected by Spotrac to have $2.7 million in 2026 cap space following the trade. The franchise may need to restructure ahead of the 2027 campaign, at which point Spotrac currently projects the team will be $41.7 million over the cap.

Spotrac projects the Titans will have $37.4 million in 2026 cap space and $83.3 million in 2027 cap space.

Simmons could instantly slot in as one of the most disruptive players in the Bears' defensive line.

The 33-year-old has recorded four sacks, six tackles for loss and nine quarterback hits in seven games with Tennessee, all of which would at least tie for the team lead in Chicago.

That continues a dominant run that has seen Simmons rank second only to Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones in sacks over the last six seasons.

The Bears have ranked eighth in the NFL with a 37.9 percent blitz rate so far this season, per Sharp Football . That could potentially change now that the Bears have added a player who ranks first among defensive tackles in ESPN's pass rush win rate .

Odeyingbo was placed on IR with a quadriceps injury earlier this month. The Bears will at least be bolstered in the short term by the return of Sweat, who has finished serving out a two-game suspension.

At least part of the Bears' new defensive line could make its debut Monday night in a Week 8 matchup at the Seattle Seahawks.

The Titans could be making more moves to stack up on draft capital ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler named edge rusher Jeremaine Johnson II, running back Tony Pollard and cornerback Alontae Taylor as players among the potential trade candidates going forward.
